Companies promote silence and miracles

Story One

A certain company had a tradition of holding a party and a lottery every Christmas Eve.

The rules of the lottery draw were as follows: each employee pays ten dollars as a fund. There were three hundred people in the company. In other words, a total of three thousand dollars can be raised.  The winner takes all the money home.

On the day of the lottery draw, the office was filled with a lively atmosphere. Everyone wrote their names on the slips of paper and put them in the lottery box.

However, a young man hesitated when he wrote.  Because he thought that the company's Cleaning  lady's frail and sickly son was going to have an operation soon after the dawn of New Year but she did not have the required money to pay for the operation, which made her quite troubled.

So, even though he knew that the chance of winning was slim, with only a three percent chance, the man wrote the name of the Cleaner lady on the note.

The tense moment came. The boss doubled in the lottery box, and finally drew out a note. The man also kept praying in his heart: hoping against  hope that the Cleaning lady can win the prize...Then the boss carefully announced the winner’s  Name, a miracle happened!

The winner turned out to be the Cleaning lady. Cheers broke out in the office, and the Cleaning lady hurriedly rushed to the stage to accept the award. She almost burst into tears and said, " I am so fortunate and blessed !  With this money, my son now has hope!"

At the beginning of the party, while thinking about this "Christmas miracle", the man paced to the lottery box. He took out a piece of paper and opened it casually. The name on it was also the name of the Cleaning lady!  The man was very surprised. He took out several pieces of paper one after another. Although the handwriting on them was different, the names were all the same, all of them were the names of the Cleaning lady  The man's eyes were filled with tears and he clearly understood that there was a Christmas miracle in the world, but  the miracle will not fall from the sky,  the people were required to create it by themselves!

*****************************************************************************

"Story Two"

One afternoon, I went for a walk with a friend in the suburbs. Suddenly, an old man in tattered clothes approached us with a bag of green vegetables in his hand.  The sales of those vegetables on that day  were very poor, the leaves seemed dehydrated  and yellowish and there were holes in them as if  bitten by insects.  But my friend bought three bags without saying a word. The old man also embarrassedly explained: "I grew these vegetables myself. It rained a while ago, and the vegetables were soaked. They look ugly. I'm sorry."

After the old man left, I asked my friend: "Will you really cook these  when you go home?"

He didn't want to say No to me. " These vegetables can no longer be eaten."

"Then why did you take the trouble of buying them?" I asked.

He replied,"Because it is impossible for anyone to buy those vegetables.  If I don't buy it, the old man will probably have no income for today."

I admired my friend's thoughtfulness and concern, so I caught up with the old man and bought some vegetables from him.  The old man said very happily, "I tried to sell them the whole day , but no one was ready to buy them. I am so happy that you both  were willing to buy from me. . Thank you so much."

Several handfuls of green vegetables that I can't eat at all taught me a valuable lesson.

When we are in a low ebb, we all hope that miracles will happen to us; but when we are capable, are we willing to be the one who creates miracles?  !

*************************************************************************8

What do companies promote ? Silence and miracles .

What does democracy promote? discussions and consensus.

Why should we wait for charity if we have a system to take care of these old people providing them livelihood and independence ?

Charity without freedom is cheating .-CKR

Internet 2020 -DISCUSSION

Dear Internet,                                             NEWSROOM

Thank goodness for the internet. 2020 has been a challenging year: divisive politics, misinformation, deeply troubling acts of racial injustice, a global pandemic that kept us from seeing those we love. But the internet has helped keep us connected.

We're collecting stories from people around the world describing how the internet has kept them sane, hopeful, and connected this year. Want to contribute? Share your love letter to the internet with us using the hashtag #DearInternet on Twitter or Instagram. We’ll update this page regularly with our favorites.

OPINIONS  collected on INTERNET from Mozilla foundation

"I expected my first week of social distancing to feel, well, distant. But I’ve been more connected than ever. My inboxes are full of invitations to digital events — Zoom art classes, Skype book clubs, Periscope jam sessions. Strangers and subject-matter experts are sharing relevant and timely information about the virus on social media, and organizing ways to help struggling people and small businesses. On my feeds, trolls are few and far between, and misinformation is quickly being fact-checked.

*************************************************************************

"For many trans and gender-fabulous folks, the internet offered the possibility of connection, the first glimmer of community, and a vision of a future that could involve joy."

–Myrl Beam is an Assistant Professor of Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies at Virginia Commonwealth University, Fellow in Oral History for the Tretter Trans Oral History Project and Co-host of Transcripts Podcast

********************************************************************

"This year has been challenging in so many ways, but the internet has given me a way to not only socialize but help me stay connected to those closest to me during the moments I missed the most. My father turned 80 this year and lives across the country in Florida, without the internet I would have missed in sharing the day with him."

- Amber Osborne, Product Marketing Manager - Mozilla Hubs

**********************************************************************************

"The beautiful thing about the internet and social media is that it has allowed us to accelerate the pace of organizing, of community building, of activism. Thinking back to 2014 in Ferguson and St. Louis, there's no way the protests would have spread across the country without the multiple platforms that allowed us to tell the truth in public, to find each other, and join together so quickly."

– DeRay Mckesson is a civil rights activist focused on issues of innovation, equity, and justice, host of the award-winning weekly podcast Pod Save The People, co-founder of Campaign Zero and a leading voice in the Black Lives Matter Movement

*******************************************************************************************

"I talk about the web as a common good: a garden of gardens for all of us. It’s up to us to sow seeds of hope and progress in the corners where darkness and dismay fester."

– Hera Hussain is the founder and CEO of CHAYN, a global volunteer-run non-profit that creates intersectional resources on the web to address gender-based violence.

*************************************************************************************

"Internet, what would I do without you. With a single hashtag like #BlackTechTwitter I'm connected to a universe of folks across the industry who face the same unique challenges I do. Suddenly I'm not alone."

– Abadesi Osunsade is the VP Global Community and Belonging at Brandwatch

OPINIONS  collected on INTERNET from Mozilla foundation*************************************************************************************

"Three words: Weekly. Gamer. Nights. I never expected a regular cadence of play-time with friends over board games or traditional video games or a round or two of Quiplash. Lengthy, RPG-style board games that we could never complete in-person suddenly felt finishable when we took the experience online. Playing a video game on one screen while we chopped it up over video chat let us stay close while being physically far. Nothing will ever replace in-person interaction, but weOPINIONS  collected on INTERNET from Mozilla foundationekly game time is a close runner-up."

– Xavier Harding is a content writer at Mozilla and host of The Markup's weekly show Meta on Instagram

**************************************************************************************I was 12 the first time I logged onto whatever was called the internet then. There were no websites to speak of, not really. No ecommerce, no banner ads, no data tracking, no spyware. iPhones hadn’t been invented yet; we called apps “programs”; and I had an EGA monitor on my PC (a whole 16 colors of range). But the first time I telnetted into a chatroom about raves, made new friends in Australia, or downloaded files to load into a music tracker, I felt the same elation that I feel now. This force, propelled by people, connected by copper and light, letting us make new connections. Connections we need now more than ever.

Previously he was the Chief Digital Content Officer at Bloomberg, the co-founder of The Verge and co-creator of Vox Media, and Editor-in-chief of Engadget. This quote is from his article "Thank God For The Internet"

Wake up Calls

On Empowerment of women again !

We publish a recent note by the great actor Prithviraj(courtesy to Facebook )

https://www.facebook.com/PrithvirajSukumaran/?fref=nf&pnref=story

*************************************************

COURAGE
-----------

Some of the most poignant moments in my life have been punctuated with moments of incredible courage. Courage from what I have now fully realised are God's most benevolent yet intricate creations. WOMEN!
From a mother picking up pieces of a suddenly derailed life, to bring up two young boys to be the men they are today..to a wife who at the fag end of a 40 hour labour, just as she was being cut open without an anaesthetic, holding my hand and telling me "It's alright Prithvi"..I have repeatedly been dumbfounded in realising how much of a lesser being I am in the company of the women in my life.
And today..as my dear friend walks in to the sets to kick start the shooting of her new film "ADAM", I once again bear witness to an extraordinary moment of courage from an extraordinary woman in my life! Today..she makes a statement..a statement that will echo through time, space and gender..that no one or no incident has control over your life but YOU! A statement that will now be part of counselling sessions and pep talks around the world. A statement that you my friend..are making in a million unheard voices!
And to those voices I apologise..for at an age and time when I wasn't wise enough..I have been part of films that celebrated misogyny..I have mouthed lines that vilified regard for your self respect and I have taken a bow to the claps that ensued. NEVER AGAIN..never again will I let disrespect for women be celebrated in my movies! Yes..I'm an actor and this is my craft! I will whole heartedly trudge the grey and black with characters that possess unhinged moral compasses...but I will never let these men be glorified or their actions justified on screen.
Once again..ladies and gentlemen..stand up and applaud for her! Behind the gutsy spunk, there is a vulnerable celebrity who knew well enough what this decision of hers would mean to a life under constant scrutiny. But she also knew..that she had to see it through...for that would set an example..light a torch that will show a path for many to follow!Today she makes a statement..
A statement of extraordinary courage!
Fanboy for life...dear friend..fanboy for life!
Love always,
Prithvi.

I'm referring to the ' forbidden fish ' explanation. Can we say that it is a warning to Nomita about their knowledge of their brawl. Nomita tries to convince them that it was just angry words but they r not ready to believe it..they feel that she finds the slightest excuse to get cosy with her husband. .so the reference maybe that don't cover ur love talks by saying that they were angry words...we know the truth. . ( ie . U were really chatting with him). Moreover Nomita never tries to reveal her husbands true colour to the household at any point in the story..which again brings out another of her character trait on MATCH BOX- DISCUSSION ON TWO INTERESTING SENTENCES

Again there is mistake. Instead of providing the picture of Percival Wilde, they have given the picture of Oscar Wilde as the author of THE HOUR OF TRUTH (see page 65) I couldn't find the real Percival Wilde from net. but the picture given is defenitely that of Oscar Wilde. on MATCH BOX- DISCUSSION ON TWO INTERESTING SENTENCES

A Womans Worth She gave life. She is a wife. She is a mother and she is a friend. She is a sister a survivor to the end. Appreciate her, we don't dare. Ask her worries, we don't care. Wipe away her tears, they are invisible as air. She works cooks and clean. She laughs, helps comfort, and hides her pain. When you struggle she pulls you through All this is she and what do we do? Complain and create a mess. Provide stress and leave her feeling depressed.. Push her away and ignore her advice. Tell her she is nothing without thinking twice. She was raped tortured and abused. Told she was nothing and would always be used just for pleasure forget her pain. She swallows her pride, put her feelings aside. Does as you need in order for you to be free. Ignores your ignorance and tolerates your flaws. You call her Bitch, Slut, Hoe and Tramp She answers with pride dignity and a complete loss of self. You call her nothing. I call her Strong, Smart, Sensual, Caring, Giving, Surviving, Tolerant on UNIT 1/LESSON 2 : ANY WOMAN :NOTES PREPARED BY THOMAS THOTTIPPAL,GHSS KATTOOR

good effort. i think the crux of the theme lies in the last two lines. * Thou who a woman laid in a manger, Tame me not till the children grow". this is the only prayer the mother places before God. This idea can be compared with " Thank god the scorpion picked on me and spared my children"- the lines from Night of the scorpion by Nissim Eziekel, on UNIT 1/LESSON 2 : ANY WOMAN :NOTES PREPARED BY THOMAS THOTTIPPAL,GHSS KATTOOR

Please read this comment by Steve Bowers (6/26/2005 1:16:00 PM)(ref-http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/any-woman/..) I heard this poem read today (26/6/05) on Poetry Please on BBC Radio 4 and shed a few tears at the simple unassuming beauty of the sentiments it expresses which so closely mirror those of my own wife for our two beautiful children. She is indeed the pillars of the house without which it would fall into ruins. A very beautiful poem in praise of motherhood. ********************************************************************* focus on the line She is indeed the pillars of the house without which it would fall into ruins. This is the concept the poet would have had in her mind while creating those lines. ****************************************************************************** So it is clear that me in the third line is mother and me in the fourth line is the house/(the family/home).I think it is a deliberate pun employed by the poet to stress the fact that mother is on UNIT 1/LESSON 2 : ANY WOMAN :NOTES PREPARED BY THOMAS THOTTIPPAL,GHSS KATTOOR

Good work.It helps a lot. In the first stanza, 3rd and 4th lines, what do the words 'ruin me' mean? Does it mean ruin the home or mother? 'Take me away, and roof and wall Would fall to ruin me utterly' 'Me' stands for mother ? on UNIT 1/LESSON 2 : ANY WOMAN :NOTES PREPARED BY THOMAS THOTTIPPAL,GHSS KATTOOR

The poem 'THE WRECK OF THE TITANIC' is a highly inspiring piece of Literature written by Benjamin Peck Keith, a famous American poet. The Title itself indicates the prominent theme of the poem. The main theme.of the poem is the tragic wreck of the passenger ship 'The Titanic' at the Atlantic ocean. Also there are the themes of 'Bravery' in the moments of death, 'unselfish helpfulness' and 'sacrificing mentality.' The poem begins dramatically with the description of the queen like movement of the beautiful passenger liner 'The Titanic.' The ship is like a 'poem of iron and steel'. Thousands of people were watching her steaming away from the port. It was the first and the last voyage of 'The Titanic'. Soon it hit a towering mountain of iceberg and the ship began to sink. The bold Captain Smith advised the crew to remain 'brave and British'. 'The women and Children' were first to be saved. While the ship was sinking the band played the music, 'Nearer my God to Thee'. The poet concludes on THE FIRST E ARTICLE FROM MY STUDENTS
