ENGLISH! ENGLISH!!

When we write about emotions, many times we feel that another word would have given a better expression. English teacher Kaitlin Robbs has created a vocabulary wheel which is very useful in finding the right word when writing 'emotional matter'. The wheel is posted above...  Zoom it and see ... Quite interesting !!

A model of a WEEKLY NEWS ANAYSIS- audio and script

AUDIO by Arun Lakshmanan

SCRIPT :A  MODEL OF A NEWS ANALYSIS

Hello  good morning welcome to news analysis by ARUN LAKSHMANAN

Record spike in covid cases in Kerala each day crossing about hundred .
Once Smitten Twice Shy !

Muslim League distances itself from Mallappalli Ramachandran's comment on kkzhylaga.Social distancing at its best !

Serial killer cyanide Mohan convicted with rape and murder of kasargod girl. Not a Jolly situation for Mohan. !
Kerala catches a glimpse of the first Solar eclipse of the decade .
Moon embracing the Sun. Corona Embraces the universe

Prithviraj announcement on Vairan kunnan caught in historical muddle. Who will have the last laugh.-Art or Politics?

Missing priest found dead in a well of church in Kerala. Nothing going well for well

And the national news analysis. Indian ,Chinese commanders hold parley on the border amid growing calls to boycott Chinese Goods . Parley on Border or Chinese Goods.

Patrol near the 80 mark , Diesel at the height after the 60s. Free ride in  bicycle the only solution to get over this vicious cycle.

UGC panel recommends scrapping exams for final year universitiy students.83 KILLED IN BIHAR DUE TO THUNDERSTORM and lightening.Chief minister announces Rs.4 lakh exgratia.Pathanjali ayurveda told to stop anti covid 19 drug.Strong voice again ! and 4 terrorists killed by security forces in Sreenagar.

and in international news anaysis,

Palestinins fear Israeli annexation could further limit dead sea access.Dead sea becomes alive !

World No. 1 tennis star,  Novak Djokovic, tests positive for coronavirus.Impact of Adrea tour exhibition !

Upto the vocabulary section handled by Mr.Lalji Daniel...The catching word is "parley" -a discussion between people who disagree to find a solution. Then the words like muddle-- a situation where there is  a lack of undersatanding and a small word "con" having a great efect. When it is in news where you can see that gangsters  trying to con Malayalam actress Shamna Kasim using TikTok ‘groom’.To "Con" means to to trick some somebody (into an unwanted act).So such new words have really embellished the newspaper headlines this week.

And we see some news missing.but it is what you call very very low(? negilgible) in nature. For example,Bhutan stops the supply of irrigation water to farmers in Assam.and I think one miss was that the news of death of  Jayaraj and his son in police custody in Chittagong ( ? Thoothukudi ) brutally thrashed by police. Even bollywood celibrities have condemned it.

But really happy to say that most of the important news items have been covered by Mr.Nishanth Abdul Kareem ...and the team work of Mr Lalji daniel,Nishad Abdul Kareem  and the sweet rendition  by Sophia teacher really stand apart. So thank you very much and have a nice week end

Comments-
Nice rendition augmented by interesting  collocations and catch phrases. Thank you sir by SOMANATHAN

Assignment problem .Do you know answer please reply "

Dear reader ,Well, you can agree with the statement or disagree with it
*************************************************************************************************
If you educate a boy ,you train a man. If you educate a girl, you train a village is a statement made by ........while speaking on the three important factors of women empowerment-learning ,labour and leadership.I agree with the statement. When we educate a boy, he grows into a man of great potentials. But his influence in the society is rather limted when compared to the influence an educated girl can have there.  We now that every girl may be the root of a family. Girls grow up , marry and give birth to  children , look after them and help their children to become empowered citizens .If the girls are well educated , the next generations in the village will surely be well informed, ambitious and highly civilised.Educated girls will empower their families and these families will  empower the whole village.Empowerment of our villages, rural or urban  will surely lead to the development of our Natiom. When we think about the education of boys and girls, importance must be given to the education of girls. Now a days in many parts of our country, especially in poor families, preference is given to the education of boys.Girls are sidelined or neglected. This is a wrong a policy. The fact is that it is the education of girls that ensures the empowerment of the whole society and hence the education of girls is a must for the development of a Nation.

First life-saving drug against coronavirus

dexamethasone
-First life-saving drug against coronavirus

In another big development, researchers at the University of Oxford said they have the first evidence that a drug can improve Covid-19 survival. A steroid called dexamethasone reduced deaths by up to one-third in severely ill hospitalised patients, the Associated Press reported.

The BBC has also reported it as the first saving life-saving drug in the battle against coronavirus. “Had the drug been used to treat patients in the UK from the start of the pandemic, up to 5,000 lives could have been saved, researchers say. And it could be of huge benefit in poorer countries with high numbers of Covid-19 patients,” the BBC said in its report.

The study is a large, strict test that randomly assigned 2,104 patients to get the drug and compared them with 4,321 patients getting only the usual care. The drug was given either orally or through an IV. It reduced deaths by 35% in patients who needed treatment with breathing machines, and by 20% in those only needing supplemental oxygen.

This is an extremely welcome result, one study leader, Peter Horby of Oxford said in a statement. “The survival benefit is clear and large in those patients who are sick enough to require oxygen treatment, so dexamethasone should now become standard of care in these patients. Dexamethasone is inexpensive, on the shelf, and can be used immediately to save lives worldwide.”
