DISASTER MANAGEMENT - notes

DISASTERS IN A  GLOBAL  CONTEXT

Disasters  in different forms are  very common in the world now. They have both increased in frequency and intensity recently according to a recent report.Disasters like earthquakes, floods, landslides, droughts, accidents ,plane crashes and forest fires are common in developed countries and developing countries alike. Many people have  lost their lives and property in the devastating disasters like tornadoes, heat waves and floods in the  UK ,France and America recently. This shows that the advance of technology can not simply reduce the impact of disasters effectively. But it is a fact that disaster management is directly related to human development. The nation with better human development will be able to reduce the risks and damage due to disasters. The flood is the most common disasters all over the world but the drought is the deadliest.Asia is the continent most affected by disasters. India China and Bangaladesh are the most affected nations and hence it is high time we started effective disaster management.
